What is MINDFULNESS?
Mindfulness is an enhanced state of awareness. It involves focusing on what is happening right here and now, moment by moment. It means being totally involved in the present. You are encouraged to accept each moment as it is, without judgement and with a generosity of spirit. Through the practice of mindfulness, you learn to turn off automatic pilot, recognize and acknowledge your current experience. Instead of being reactive, you learn to respond skilfully to lifes stresses. If you can breathe, you can practise mindfulness!
What is MINDFULNESS MEDITATION?
It is the principal technique which allows you to achieve a state of mindfulness. Much of the current secular teachings of Mindfulness Meditation have been inspired by the East, most notably from the Buddhist traditions. Mindfulness Meditation is practised by people with different faiths or no faith at all.
The 8 Week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course is based on three decades of scientific research. Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) is adapted from the MBSR course and has also been well researched. It is a recommended treatment by the NHS (National Health Service) for patients suffering from recurrent episodes of depression.
What is A MINDFULNESS COURSE OR MINDFULNESS COACHING / THERAPY?
It is adapted to suit the individual needs of clients and students.
You can train effectively:
- with 8 OR 4 regular hourly sessions;
- weekly OR fortnightly;
- face-to-face OR over Skype OR the telephone.
- The 8 week Mindfulness Course combines the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course developed by Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn based on his seminal book: Full Catastrophe Living with all that Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) has to offer;
- It has trained the public as well as psychiatrists, psychotherapists, counsellors and life coaches;
- You are in highly practical sessions, learning mindfulness meditation to cultivate awareness, leading to many emotional and physical health benefits;
- All Mindfulness courses include a minimum of 50 page Learn Mindfulness booklet and three guided meditation audio tracks: Body Scan; Yoga Meditation; Sitting Meditation.
- The Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy course is derived from the 8 week MBSR course but with more focus on the mindfulness based cognitive therapy aspect derived from the seminal book of Segal, Williams and Teasdale: Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy for Depression;
- This approach has proven not only to work for those who suffer from depression, but also, the worried well;
- The 4 week course has less structured homework and formal meditation practice;
- It is more client centred, fluid and works within the context of either counselling or life coaching;
- You are taught the principles of mindfulness and provided with different sets of tools to practise with.
Option 1: 8 week MBSR and MBCT Course
Option 2: 4 week MBCT Course
What are my Credentials and Experience?
I started practising meditation in the Siddha Yoga tradition since 1992 before embarking on the mindfulness meditation route via training with several Mindfulness teachers and later at Bangor University, the origin and seat of MBSR and MBCT Training in the UK.
I practise meditation on a daily basis and mindful living throughout the day. I regularly attend meditation retreats and courses and work with clients from my own practice and experience.
