Forgiveness Workshop
In June 2005, I was woken up at 3 am by an inner voice that told me, in no equivocal terms, to "write this down". Eventually, when I got up and as I put pen to paper, the writing flowed. I had written down a plan for a workshop which integrated all my past experiences and training. This was the birth of The Forgiveness Workshop.
The word "FORGIVENESS" is often a loaded and misunderstood word, and that has deterred many from wanting to forgive. Some initially thought they had already forgiven, or had no-one to forgive, only to realise that bitterness and anger at themselves and others were brimming below the surface and colouring their attitude to life.
The act of forgiving is not easy. Yet, true forgiveness is essential in our personal and spiritual healing and growth. When we attack or hold a grievance against others, there is something that we are not forgiving within ourselves. The lack of forgiveness affects everything in our lives and we see things tinged with the fear of separateness.
This workshop is small, intimate and experiential. It walks alongside you through the darkness of fear, lifts you from blame and guilt, allows you to remember you are not alone and reveals to you what love is. It teaches you what forgiveness is - and what it is not. The workshop imparts the process of forgiveness, and supplies the tools to let go, or to come to terms with your past, enables you to grow personally and / or spiritually. It leaves many lightened; and all with a sense of peace.
Day 1: Walking through the Darkness
Experience what it is like to have your story heard in a non-judgmental, empathic and genuine way. Realise with others the difficulties and the process of forgiving, and what forgiveness is not. Know that you are safely accompanied on your journey through your darkness, and learn also how to accompany others in theirs.
Day 2: Walking into the Light
As you start healing your wounds, know that there is the possibility to enter the light of wholeness. Realise what forgiveness is and why it is so important. You are gently encouraged to consider whether you want to stay in the past, if so why; and you discover what could help you move towards the future. You learn also how to support others in this way.
Day 3: Going Deeper Within
"What is within, is without". You begin to take responsibility for your own shadow, to see past unacceptable behaviour and into the essence of who we all are, by surrendering to something bigger than ourselves.
